Student Affairs & Academic Progression (SA&AP), Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT), Hyderabad, organized an insightful seminar on “Digital Wellness” on 27th April 2026 at the C-Block Seminar Hall. The event was conducted to create awareness among students about the increasing psychological and behavioral impact of excessive mobile phone and digital media usage.

The seminar was organized in collaboration with the Brahma Kumaris organization and witnessed enthusiastic participation from students and faculty members. The keynote speaker for the session was Ms. Aditi Singhal, CEO of Dynamic Minds Group, internationally acclaimed Memory & Soft Skills Expert, Author, and Digital Wellness Coach.

Addressing the gathering, Ms. Aditi Singhal spoke about the rapid growth of digital content consumption through platforms such as Netflix, Amazon Prime, Facebook, and other social media applications. She described this excessive consumption as “digital obesity” and urged students to reflect on the amount of “digital calories” they consume daily. She emphasized that uncontrolled digital engagement distracts the mind, weakens focus, and affects overall brain health.

During the seminar, she highlighted how multitasking often increases stress levels and explained the scientific impact of excessive screen time on brain structure and chemistry. She also stressed that prolonged use of mobile phones and social media can lead to addiction, loneliness, depression, and reduced emotional well-being among teenagers and young adults.

Some of the important suggestions shared during the session included:

  • Practicing at least two hours of digital silence every day
  • Avoiding late-night binge watching
  • Reducing unnecessary social media usage
  • Focusing on mindful and purposeful learning
  • Practicing meditation regularly for mental clarity and emotional balance

The session created significant awareness among students regarding responsible technology usage and the importance of maintaining a healthy balance between digital engagement and personal well-being.

The event was attended by the Director of SA&AP, Prof. V.V.N. Satya Suresh, Deputy Director of SA&AP, Dr. R. Uday Kumar, along with faculty members, reflecting MGIT’s commitment towards the holistic development and mental well-being of students.
