Library Rules & Regulations

  • Membership : Membership is open to all the faculty, staff, and students of Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT).
  • Working Hours  : 09.00 AM to 06.00 PM
  • Reference Section :  09.30 AM to 06.00 PM
  • Issue / Return of Books/CDs :  10.00 AM to 04.00 PM
  • Silence and CLEANLINESS should be strictly maintained in & around the Library & Information Center. Use of cell-phones is also not allowed
  • Smoking, eating, sleeping and talking loudly are strictly prohibited in the library
  • Every student is eligible to borrow 4 books and 2 CDs using Non-Transferable Borrower Card, for a period of 14 and 7 days respectively.
  • All the students should return their Library Borrower Card after completion of their course and obtain a “No-Due” Certificate from the Library & Information Center.
  • A non-member can use the library material on the premises with the permission of the Librarian.
  • Readers should not mark, underline, dog-ear, write, tear pages or otherwise damage the library documents.
  • Do not make pencil/pen marks, underline, or cause any other kind of damage to the book(s). If any such damage is noticed at the time of returning of the books, he/she will be held responsible and penalized as deemed fit.
  • While borrowing books the student advised to ensure that the book(s) are in proper condition. If any page(s) is /are missing or damaged, inform the same to the library staff on duty.
  • The students should enter the details of borrowed books in the “Register” at the Exit gate and cooperate with the Library Staff.
  • In case the Book/CD is lost, the borrower has to replace the same edition or the latest edition of the “Lost Book/CD” If the Book/CD is not available, the borrower has to pay double the cost of the lost item.
  • Newspapers, magazines and journals must be read only in the library on specific tables and should not be taken to any other reading areas.
  • No library material can be taken out of the library without permission. Unauthorized removal of anything belonging to the library will be treated as theft and dealt accordingly.
  • Anyone who violates the rules and regulations of the library would be liable to lose the privilege of library membership and may be debarred from using the library facilities.
  • Borrowers should return the books on or before the Due Date. Defaulter will be fined as follows:

  • There are two Book Banks for SC/ST Scholar Ship holders in the library. Students belonging to the respective group can make use of the books issued through Book Banks.
  • REFERENCE BOOKS and JOURNALS are NOT for issue and they can be referred within the Library & Information Center only.
  • Watch the notice board of the Library & Information Center every time you visit for latest update, if any.
  • Consult the Library Staff on duty for any other information or clarification.

READING IS A GOOD HABIT
