NEP SAARTHI
Guiding the Reform.

Saarthi means charioteer — the one who steers, not just rides along. MGIT's Student Ambassadors for the National Education Policy 2020 do the same for academic reform on this campus.

Why this cell exists

Reform needs a voice on the ground.

NEP 2020 is implemented through coordination across regulators, state governments and institutions — but UGC built the SAARTHI programme on the belief that none of it lands without students carrying it into their own classrooms and hostels. Nominated under Clauses 3–5 of the UGC guidelines, MGIT's SAARTHIs run that last mile on campus.

01

Build awareness

Introduce NEP 2020's reforms to students in plain, campus-relevant terms.

02

Drive participation

Turn awareness into action — get students actually involved in implementing NEP initiatives.

03

Close the loop

Feed student experience back to UGC so the policy's rollout can be corrected as it goes.

Section 6, UGC Guidelines 2024

Eight spokes, one wheel

Everything a SAARTHI is asked to do, in eight parts.

01

Ambassador

Represent and promote NEP 2020 on campus.

02

Awareness Drives

Run one awareness drive on NEP initiatives every semester.

03

Campus Activities

Organise debates, quizzes, discussions and nukkad natakas per the UGC calendar.

04

Outreach & Media

Spread NEP information through posters, social media and the NEP helpdesk.

05

Dialogue

Build a working conversation between students, faculty and administration.

06

Documentation

Prepare short notes on each NEP initiative for campus display and UGC submission.

07

UGC Programmes

Attend the online sessions organised by UGC for SAARTHIs.

08

Feedback Loop

Collect student feedback on NEP implementation in the prescribed format.
