News Date : 10 Jun 2024     News Report

10th June 2024 (Meetings in DMRL to discuss project on Residual stress of materials & performances of final year project students

The Director RDC, Dr. M.P. Phaniraj, and Prof. Y. Pardhu (P&C), visited RCMA & DMRL to discuss ongoing research between MGIT &DMRL. They met with the Scientists: Dr. Manish Patel (CMC), Dr. Phani Surya Kiran (NDT), Dr. Veera Babu (SSG)

The details of the meetings are given below:

Dr. Phani Surya Kiran (NDT)

Dr. Phani discussed at length about taking a MGIT final year project student on residual stress analysis, co-guiding, a MGIT mechanical dept. faculty, jointly with Prof. Viswanath (MAS@IITH)  on simulations using ABAQUS. He is willing to help if Prof. Viswanath submits a proposal on residual stress in Naval Steels. Dr. Veera Babu will assist in the latter by providing necessary samples of Naval steel.

Dr. Manish Patel (Ceramic Matrix Composites group)

Three final year MME@MGIT had done their project under Dr. Manish. He talked about their performance and the possibility of  a poster in the upcoming conference. He is willing to take more students in the coming year.

Dr Veera (Special Steels Group) & Dr. Sankarasubramanian (Computational Modeling)

Dr Veera mentioned that one more month of work is pending with the project students. If one of the Project students’ MR Shivram works for at least a month, it would be enough to make poster for the upcoming conference. Dr. Veera is also interested in the project on residual stress in naval steels.

Dr. Sankarasubramanian is presently occupied in his role as the Officer on Special Duty to the Director. He is willing but cannot spend time on final year project students.
