MGIT Students Explore Advancements in Oceanic Research during Visit to INCOIS

On April 3, 2025, a group of 120 students from the CSE-AI&ML, Computer Science Engineering (CSE), and Information Technology (IT) branches of Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT) embarked on an enlightening industrial visit to the Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) in Pragathi Nagar, Hyderabad. The visit was spearheaded by Principal Prof. G. Chandramohan Reddy, alongside esteemed faculty members, including Prof. T.V. Rajini Kanth, Prof. M. Ramabai, and Prof. Vijayalakshmi, supported by nine other teachers.

The students gained invaluable insights into crucial topics such as tsunami and earthquake prediction and analysis, learning how advanced technologies are utilized in forecasting these natural disasters. The informative sessions highlighted the government’s initiatives aimed at supporting fishermen, enhancing their safety and livelihood through timely information dissemination.

Participants were particularly impressed by INCOIS’s state-of-the-art research methodologies and commitment to community service. Educational workshops and demonstrations allowed students to engage interactively, fostering a deeper understanding of oceanography’s significance in environmental management.

This visit not only broadened the students’ academic perspectives but also emphasized the importance of applying engineering principles in addressing real-world challenges.
