One-Day Hands-on Training on Design of UPS Health Monitoring System at IITH

The B.Tech V Semester students of the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering (EEE), Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT), participated in a one-day hands-on training program on the Design of a UPS (Uninterruptible Power Supply) Health Monitoring System at the Indian Institute of Technology Hyderabad (IITH) on 13th December 2025.

The training program aimed to provide practical exposure to monitoring critical parameters of UPS systems, ensuring enhanced reliability, efficiency, and operational safety. Students were introduced to the fundamentals of UPS operation, common failure modes, and the significance of real-time health monitoring in industrial and power system applications.

The hands-on sessions focused on sensor integration, data acquisition, and basic signal processing techniques for monitoring key parameters such as voltage, current, temperature, and battery health. Participants also gained practical experience in interfacing hardware with microcontrollers and analyzing system performance.

The program significantly strengthened students’ understanding of power electronics, embedded systems, and condition monitoring concepts, effectively bridging the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical implementation. Overall, the training enhanced students’ technical skills and increased their awareness of industrial applications of UPS health monitoring systems.
