News Date : 13 Jan 2024     News Report

In a remarkable educational journey, the III B.Tech I-Semester students of the Electrical and Electronics Engineering department at MGIT embarked on an industrial visit on January 12, 2024. This excursion led them to two pioneering companies in the energy sector – Renewable Energy Systems Ltd. (RESL) in Jeedimetla, Hyderabad, and EV Retron Energies India Pvt. Ltd. in Patancheru, Hyderabad.

Renewable Energy Systems Limited, a trailblazer since 1985, has been at the forefront of thermal battery technology. With a legacy that began through acquiring technology from DRDO & USSR, RESL has specialized in creating thermal battery systems primarily for missile applications. During the visit, students delved into the intricate processes of producing thermal and lithium batteries used in various defense applications. They learned about the unique properties of thermal batteries, including their use of molten salt electrolytes and activation through external heating. The exploration continued with insights into lithium battery technology, emphasizing the use of lithium metal anodes and various cathodes.

The visit to EV Retron Energies India Pvt. Ltd., a 2020-established start-up, provided a glimpse into the future of energy storage and power management. Known for its innovative approach in the field, Retron Energies specializes in the R&D, engineering, and manufacturing of advanced storage systems. Here, the students observed the practical application of an EV Emulator and the process of manufacturing and testing battery packs for electric vehicles. The visit highlighted the significance of experiments with electric vehicles using the Emulator and the role of grid-connected solar PV systems.

This industrial visit was not just an educational trip but a source of inspiration for the students. It broadened their horizons and offered a real-world perspective on the energy sector, potentially shaping their future career paths in this rapidly evolving field.
