The Department of Metallurgical and Materials Engineering at MGIT, in collaboration with the Indian Institute of Metals, Hyderabad Chapter, has launched a two-day national seminar on Advanced Materials and Processes (AMP-2023). The inaugural program was held on April 17, 2023, and was graced by Dr. R Balamuralikrishna, Director of Defence Metallurgical Research Laboratory, Hyderabad, as the Chief Guest.
The seminar aims to provide a platform for professionals, researchers, and students to exchange ideas and discuss recent advances in materials science and engineering. The program also encourages collaboration between the academic and industrial sectors to benefit students.
During the inaugural address, Professor G Chandra Mohan Reddy gaaru, Principal of MGIT, welcomed all the dignitaries and urged the faculty members of the Department to engage with the core industry sector and collaborate to benefit the student community. Dr. K. Ramanjameyulu, Head of the Department, briefed the audience on the ongoing activities of the department and highlighted the overall spectrum of the seminar.
In his keynote address, Dr. Balamuralikrishna emphasized the significance of materials and metals in technological advancements. He also advised the students to focus on their academics and be prepared to undertake the challenges that the industry sector may present.
Sri D. Praveen Reddy garu, Chairman of Chaitanya Bharathi Educational Society, interacted with the students during the program and encouraged them to become communicative and multitaskers.
The inaugural program concluded with the proposal of a vote of thanks by Dr. M. Phaniraj, Convener of AMP-2023. The seminar promises to be an excellent opportunity for researchers, students, and industry professionals to collaborate and advance the field of materials science and engineering.
