News Date : 20 Feb 2026     News Report

The Departments of Mathematics and Humanities at Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology organized an insightful workshop on 20 February 2026 on the topic “Gender Sensitization in the Digital Age: Understanding Gen Z Perspectives.” The session was delivered by Dr. Mrudula Lakkaraju, Associate Professor, Department of English, Osmania University.

Dr. Lakkaraju provided a detailed perspective on the historical foundations of patriarchy and its continued influence in modern society. Drawing from feminist theory and the four waves of feminism, she traced the movement’s evolution—from the fight for voting rights to the powerful assertion that “the personal is political,” and ultimately to the emergence of digital activism in the Fourth Wave. She explained how digital platforms have become important spaces for awareness, advocacy, and social change.

The workshop highlighted how Gen Z engages with digital platforms as active participants in gender discourse, using technology to promote intersectionality, global solidarity, and social awareness. She emphasized that gender sensitization requires not only individual awareness but also transformation in institutional thinking and societal attitudes.

The program was graced by Dr. G. ChandraMohan Reddy, Principal, whose presence reflected the institute’s commitment to holistic education and social responsibility. Dr. V. Hari Leela, Head of the Department, and Dr. C. S. Srinivas were also present. Faculty members and students actively participated and benefited from the session.

The workshop served as a valuable platform for meaningful discussion, critical reflection, and strengthening awareness toward building a more inclusive, equitable, and responsible digital society.
