The Industry Institute Partnership Cell (IIPC), Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT), Hyderabad, organized an expert lecture on “From Core Engineering to Smart Engineering with AI” on 29th April 2026 as part of its IIPC activities. The session was conducted for the students of Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics Engineering to create awareness about the growing role of Artificial Intelligence in core engineering domains.

The invited lecture was delivered by Mr. B. Prudhvi Narayana, AI and Data Engineer, Tata Consultancy Services (TCS), Hyderabad. During the session, he explained how traditional engineering disciplines are rapidly transforming into smart engineering systems through the integration of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning technologies.

Mr. Prudhvi Narayana emphasized that the transition from core engineering to smart engineering enhances productivity, innovation, efficiency, and reliability across industries. He highlighted emerging concepts such as generative design, digital twins, predictive maintenance, and AI-driven manufacturing systems, which are significantly reducing design time and operational downtime in industries.

Addressing the students, Dr. G. ChandraMohan Reddy, Principal, MGIT, motivated them to focus on state-of-the-art technologies and build expertise in Artificial Intelligence to create better career opportunities in the evolving industrial landscape.

Dr. K. Sudhakar Reddy, Vice-Principal and Head of the Department of Mechanical Engineering, briefed the students on the vast scope and future opportunities of AI applications in Mechanical Engineering and Mechatronics.

The lecture was attended by students and faculty members of the institute, who actively participated in the interactive session. Dr. M. Prathyusha, Member, IIPC, Department of Mechanical Engineering, summarized the key takeaways of the lecture.

The program concluded with a vote of thanks proposed by Dr. P. Chandra Sekhar, Convenor, IIPC.
