Hyderabad, 22 October 2026
Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT), Gandipet, today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Bharat Electronics Limited (BEL), the Defence Public Sector Undertaking under the Ministry of Defence, Government of India. The agreement was signed with BEL’s I.E. Nacharam unit in Hyderabad and marks a significant step in bringing MGIT students closer to the nation’s defence production and research ecosystem.
The MoU was signed by Prof. G. ChandraMohan Reddy, Principal, MGIT, and Dr. Ch. Viswanadham, General Manager (EWLS) & Unit Head, BEL Hyderabad. The signing was witnessed by Smt. Leela P. Jagadeeswar Reddy, Head of the Department of ECE, on behalf of MGIT.
Under the agreement, MGIT students will take part in BEL’s Familiarization Program, which aims to spark interest in defence manufacturing among engineering and science students. The program offers 2–3 day visits and workshops at BEL factory sites and manufacturing units, where students can observe real-world implementation and learn how defence electronics systems are designed and built. A key goal is to encourage students to explore the Defence Production ecosystem, particularly Research & Development.
BEL will provide bus transport support for students travelling from the campus to its premises, and boarding and lodging arrangements may be made where required, subject to availability. The program is open to MGIT students pursuing undergraduate, postgraduate and professional degree courses.
The MoU is valid for an initial period of three years and may be extended by mutual consent.
