Mahatma Gandhi Institute of Technology (MGIT), established in 1997 by the Chaitanya Bharathi Educational Society (CBES), is one of the premier engineering institutions in Telangana, known for its excellent academic track record and commitment to value-based education. CBES, founded in 1979 by an eminent group of visionaries, set out with a mission to create “temples of knowledge” to nurture future generations.
MGIT is affiliated with JNTU Hyderabad, accredited four times by the National Board of Accreditation (NBA) for all eligible programs, and holds an A++ grade from NAAC. It is also recognized by the UGC under 2(f) and 12(b). Recently, the Institute has been conferred Autonomous Status by the UGC, further enhancing its academic flexibility and innovation.
The Institute offers eleven undergraduate programs with an intake of 1020 students, in addition to five postgraduate programs. MGIT has a strong academic community comprising 236 highly qualified faculty members, of whom 116 hold Ph.D. degrees and many others are pursuing doctoral research at reputed institutions.
MGIT has consistently featured among the top engineering institutions in national rankings. In 2022, it was placed in the 251–300 band in the NIRF rankings by the Ministry of Education. It has been recognized as a Top Emerging Engineering College of Excellence by CSR–GHRDC and listed among the Top 100 Engineering Colleges in India by The Week magazine. Careers360 rated MGIT AAA+ in 2025, reaffirming its standing among India’s best engineering institutions.
Located at Gandipet, Hyderabad, the campus spans 30 acres of serene, green surroundings with a built-up area of over 3.4 lakh sq. ft. Since its inception, MGIT has become a preferred destination for engineering aspirants seeking quality education in a conducive learning environment. The academic ambiance emphasizes technical excellence, innovation, and character-building, reflecting the values of Mahatma Gandhi.
MGIT offers undergraduate programs in Computer Science, Information Technology, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, Mechatronics, Metallurgical and Materials Engineering, Computer Science and Business Systems, CSE (Artificial Intelligence & Machine Learning), and CSE (Data Science), along with five Post Graduate programs. UG level Admissions are made through the state-level competitive examination TG EAPCET attracting brilliant and meritorious students every year.
The Institute maintains a strong placement record, with 75–80% of students placed consistently over the past three years through an active Training and Placement Cell. Many alumni have pursued higher studies and are now excelling in prestigious positions around the world.
Starting with just three branches and an intake of 140 students, MGIT has grown remarkably into a centre of excellence for Engineering and Management education.
